For years, news about cultural events and film festival achievements from the Middle East kept landing in my inbox, including updates from Iran, Turkey, the Arab world, and beyond. At first, I shared these updates directly with filmmakers, hoping it would inspire them to prepare for future submissions. Over time, I realized these stories mattered to a much wider audience.

Over the past four months, I started testing the idea of sharing these updates more publicly. I began covering festival selections, regional premieres, and the global recognition of Middle Eastern films. The response was far beyond what I expected. Filmmakers reached out, festival organizers shared more news, and the flow of information felt alive and necessary.

We cover not only news from festivals across the Middle East, but also highlight how filmmakers from the region are being recognized and celebrated at international festivals.

That is why I launched Souzian Dispatch, a dedicated publication focused on film festival news from and about the Middle East. Each week, we share updates on new selections, filmmaker journeys, and the growing visibility of this region’s cinema on the world stage.
