KhabarOnline: “Alamto, a Reptile Wonderland” to Air on Documentary Channel

The documentary “Alamto, a Reptile Wonderland,” produced and directed by Fathollah Amiri, will air on Documentary Channel on Friday, May 7th at 10 PM and Saturday, May 8th at 9 AM.

According to Khabar Online News Agency, Alamto, a Reptile Wonderland explores the mysterious lives of reptiles in western Iran, particularly in Ilam province, highlighting their unique behaviors.

One of the most astonishing scenes, the hunting of the Spider-tailed Viper—one of the most remarkable moments in Iranian wildlife—was captured for the first time in this film. The production of this documentary, which took three years to complete, is a product of the Ilam Broadcasting Center, known for its high-quality wildlife documentaries, featuring filmmakers like Fathollah Amiri and Mehdi Nourmohammadi.

Although eight years have passed since the production of this film, it continues to captivate audiences with its pristine footage whenever it is re-aired on television.

One of the standout features of this documentary is its rigorous research. Throughout the making of this film, Amiri was accompanied by Dr. Behzad Fathinia, ensuring that the scientific rigor often lacking in some Iranian wildlife documentaries is well maintained in his works.

This documentary has earned numerous accolades in both domestic and international festivals, including the statue and Firouzeh Medal, the Honorary Diploma, and the Grand Prize of the 8th Cinema Verite Festival in 2014, the Best Cinematography and Sound Recording Awards from the same festival, a nomination for the Crystal Simorgh for Best Documentary at the 32nd Fajr Film Festival in 2014, participation in the competition section of the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival in New York in 2015, and the Honorary Diploma for Best Film at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Festival in Turkey.
